PER FARE LUCE URLAVATE I VOSTRI DOLORI
This work has been developed during the artist in residency program Tessile l’Arte, by Ottovolante Sulcis on the island of S. Antioco (IT).
I researched the history and culture of this small territory, focusing specifically on the story of the people who inhabited its caves till recent years. These individuals whose house was under the surface of the earth were called “Gruttaius”. The concept of light, the architecture of the caves and the deep connection of these people with nature, became the matrix for the development of the drawings.
The outcome recalls the structure of traditional rugs and arazzii. It is made by sewing multiple drawings, each one created by a mix of techniques based on watercolors, ink and graphite powder.
